VELA

This conceptual live/work house for fashion designer Iris van Herpen is situated on Baltic Wharf, Bristol, exploring the relationship between living, making and the boundaries between these spaces. Inspired by the movement of water and Van Herpen’s fluid, experimental design approach, the proposal transitions between private living areas, open communal spaces and a panoramic workshop above. A layered façade and water-inspired pattern language reflect the organic qualities of the harbour, filtering light and framing views to create an environment that encourages creativity and everyday living.
