The Peel explores the potential of food waste as a sustainable material resource, investigating how discarded orange peels can be transformed into a valuable interior material. Through experimentation and material development, the project explores the qualities of orange peel and its combination with pine resin, creating a unique composite material while preserving its natural texture, colour, and character. This exploration led to the development of a handcrafted table lamp, where the material’s warm, translucent qualities create an ambient interior object that demonstrates how waste materials can be reimagined through conscious design.
